I've posted this before but not on the new VRF so here goes...
![]() FuFu desperately needs a home. He is living in my very small art studio right now and really needs a loving home ASAP. He’s been living in this very small room for over a year now. I am willing to travel to get him to the right home. If I can get there and back in less than a weekend, I have cat and will travel! He must be the only cat which is why it’s been so hard to find him a home. Most people willing to take in a needy cat already have them. If you’re considering getting a furry friend and don’t have any yet, please consider adopting FuFu. He’ll make a great friend. Fufu was a stray cat who never had a home until he showed up on my front porch with pus and blood (not a pretty picture) gushing from his kitty head. I did what anyone would do and I took him to the vet. Long story short he is better now and needs a home. He must be an only cat because under no circumstances does he like other cats. He loves people but hates other cats. For the full story and photos on Fufu click here. Please help him find a good and loving home. |

Ohhhhh...what a cutie! It is so wonderful that you've done so much for FuFu (I love that name BTW
)I was just about to jump all over that before I read he needs to be the only cat. I've been really giving a lot of thought lately to getting my Cookie kitty a friend to play with! I hope you find someone to snatch him up and love him and kiss him and cuddle him! I'll pass the word around here in Chicago, too (that's not too far)! |

Thanks! I’d appreciate that. No, Chicago isn’t too far away. It’s a 6 hour drive from here or 45 min. flight.

Megan,
Have you thought about taking him to an animal shelter? I am sure it would be as a last resort, but since he has been with you so long have you thought about it? I am not sure where you are located in Ohio and I know there aren't a whole lot of good no or low kill shelters around, but the one I work at is very good (cleanly and we let the cats out pretty frequently even though we don't have a cat play room). I am sure I can also post his pic and info at our shelter. Good luck, he is a cutie! |

I will not take him to a shelter. There is no way. I want to make sure he finds a good home. We have one no-kill shelter here and that is where one of my cats came from. Supposedly they have all of these strict adoption rules but it’s all show. When I adopted Diva they just gave me a list of their rules and said “sign it” and that was it. She was mine. Never did they call or come and check on her like they said. No-kill shelters are great as long as the animals are going to good homes, otherwise they’re useless.
I don’t want him trapped in a cage all day where as he can’t barely move. That’s awful and he can’t be let out with other cats. He will kill them. Like I said, he loves people but under no circumstances will he tolerate another cat, not even for a second. I’ve posted signs in the pets stores and just about everywhere I can think of. I know it will be hard to place him because of his attitude towards other cats. Most people who want cats already have them. I’d keep him if he would just get along but it’s just not happening. …and so continues the journey… |

Megan,
I am sorry that you had such a bad experiance w/your shelter. Our shelter, though, does not just have people read our rules and sign. We talk (sometimes for quite awhile) to potential adopters to make sure the animal they have found matches to their personality and lifestyle. We also do many follow-up calls to check and see how the animals are doing and occasionally do home-checks. While yes, he might be in a cage a bit smaller than his liking he has also been in your studio for quite some time and you said it was also small, in some cases the short term "misery" would be better than the long term. Also, just because he HATES other cats does not mean he still could not come out of his cage. Not all shelters are bad and quite a bit are good, but yes sadly the majority are just "holding" buildings. Another thing though is that you might not want to post signs in pet stores as they are much worse places than animal shelters unless of course you can't "buy" animals there. Good Luck!! |

Foo is hardly in misery! Yes, for the most part he lives in a 10’ x 16’ room, but misery, no. He is treated very well as are my other cats. He is not locked up in the room 24-7. Everyday the other cats go to the basement for a couple hours and he has free run of the house. He is always purring and seems to be a pretty happy cat to me. Not to mention I’m in the room almost as much as he is. He’s hardly lonely.
I’m glad to hear that you work for a good shelter but there is no such thing around here. As for shelters, I will never do that to him. I’d let him free outside before I’d take him to a shelter. He’d have a much better chance outside than in a shelter. I will not have him locked in cage all day and night either. That I’m sure would turn him into an unhappy cat. I don’t care if the pet store sells animals. What does that matter? I am looking for a good home for the cat. Someone who comes in the store might just be the right person for him. Also, the pet stores in my area have a cat adoption program. I have his information posted on their bulletin board. There is a group (Hearts & Paws) who rescues cats and the pet store lets them put the animals in the store for adoption. All money raised supposedly goes towards the cat rescue program. They also supposedly have a strict adoption rules but who knows. It’s probably like everything else, just so they sound good or something. I also have signs up in the little coffee shops and bookstores in the area. You never know when or where that right person will come along. |
