On vacation in CO
I was most thrilled the day we visited Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park, CO! There is this cool restaurant in the town called Poppy's. We told the waitress our mantra about being strict vegetarians, and asked some questions about a few things. She was very helpful, in that she actually asked the kitchen staff, and reported back. Then one of the owners (?) came over and was like "You guys are vegan? Well my wife and i eat this and this and this is vegan but this isn't..." Brandon and I were pleasantly shocked!! The food was indeed delicious. We shared a wrap, a hummus plate, and a personal size pizza (excellent crust!). A++
Also tried the BK Veggie for the first time. Actually, this happened at a BK in west Kansas. There was a worker there who didn't eat meat, so she was able to make sure ours wasn't molested by beef, and that the french fry grease was only that. Brandon still won't eat the fries, since they are too greasy, but overall excellent experience! B+ We ate pizza in a little place in Boulder. I'll have to get back to you about the name; begins with a J. They were very cool about not cutting it, and they even had tofu! A+ Our last night in Denver, we ate at a Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant at 44th & Sheridan (west outskirts). We went through the mantra, and they still managed to slip a marble-size piece of beef in my portion, and they aparently pre-cooked some tofu in some sort of meat sauce. Ick. The rest was good. D |
