Tomorrow is my best friend's birthday..... Tradition: Every year we go out to eat - her husband/mine/me - we all rotate accordingly. Anyway - I was vegetarian for a long while but now as vegan - I doubt seriously there's much on my plate at all. Compound this with; my husband whose now vegetarian..... AND her husband is on this forever low/no carb atkins diet..... What a pickle huh? At this point, with what I now know (which made me vegan) - I don't think I could stomach watching someone consume flesh - it's just gross..... any suggestions?

Saw this one too late ... how'd it go?

I always hate watching people eat meat ... especially if they have to cut it up or chew if off the bone. Ew. Since I'm the only person of veg persuasion among my friends & family, eating out pretty much always means that meat is at the table. Most of the time I'll just go along with the program, but there's some places I just won't go: steak houses, places where meat is cooked on the table (like korean bbq), or anyplace where the only thing I can eat is a salad and/or bread. If they're going there, they can go without me. I took me a while to learn where my limits are.

I would have suggested maybe going for Thai or Chinese (if it's a place you can trust not to use pork or fishy stuff in the veg dishes). Since most dishes are already prepared to be bite-sized, and usually covered in a sauce, at least then you're not treated to dissection or bone-gnawing at your table (although the atkins guy would probably order the ribs or something).

Maybe next year you could go for a wine tasting or something, or perhaps a tea tasting if you're teetotalers

I have procrastinated to embarassment..... I emailed a happy birthday, I called - but nothing else - I have a card/gift that I intend to drop over tommorow - I've really blown this one.... I am what I do not eat; chicken.....
