someone at the farm sanctuary walk last weekend brought her cat along in one of these. i had never seen one before and i alternated between getting the giggles over the idea and thinking it was pretty rad.

just pet strollers (http://www.justpetstrollers.com/)

she had the "happy trails" version (the blue one).

If I had a cat, I would totally do that. If I could, I would take my teddy bear sons out in a pram, but hubby vetoed, saying that people would think I was a sad woman driven to madness by an inability to bear children. Freaking society, man. Sometimes I really envy kids.

We have a happy trails stroller like htey advertise there.

We like it, BUT - near the top of the stroller, on each side, where the canvas kitty compartment is joined to the frame, there is an opening. It's where two pieces of material overlap, and they are drawn tight, so it's not a gaping hole. But, if your cat was smallish and had a freakout in the stroller, s/he might be able to shoot out on either side.

I could see those comming in handy for older or injured people with oversized felines on those scary trips to the vet (like my mom with her 25 lb monster cat, 20 lb medium cat, 15 lb prima donna, 12 lb 'DON'T PICK ME UP!' and 8 lb 'DON'T PICK ME UP!'). Maybe I'll buy the double decker one for my mom for the holidays, or something.

Oh... my... God... That is about the cutest thing ever. I don't think my kitties would like it, though. I think they'd be scared of the traffic noise because I live right on a busy street (the kitties are strictly indoors, of course). If I drove, though, I think I could use one by driving the kitties to a park and taking them out in the stroller there. But I don't drive. Oh well. The kitties do get outside time on my upstairs balcony, where they get fresh air several times a week. :)

I have a cat stroller! It's the Kittywalk brand. Only 1 cat likes going for walks. It it SO convenient when going to the vet! The top part seperates from the bottom to make a carrier. I can put the cat in the carrier, and the wheels and handle fold up. When I get to the vet I put it back together and can just wheel my cat in, instead of trying to maneuver a big bulky cat carrier. We got lots of attention last time we were at the vet! =)

i just love the 'who's online' feature here. lookit this cool thread i found. :silly:

i've been dreaming up ideas of how to bring my dog on bike rides to the trails (modifying those bike trailer thingies for kids...building my own trailer thingy out of plywood, wheels and mosquito netting... ) because there's no way in hell she'd ever not make me crash if i just held her leash and rode the bike like i see some people do.
lo and behold, there's been a solution (http://www.justpetstrollers.com/petego_sport_wagon_bike_stroller.html) all along! too bad it's so freaking expensive. :brood:

Don't they sell the exact same thing for kids? I don't think that you would need to modify one, I've seen people biking and towing their kids in things that look exactly like that. Maybe it has a higher weight limit?

yeah, but i don't think the actual compartment would be big enough for my dog. and i'm thinking the seats would get in the way - although i've never seen one up close so i really have no idea! :silly:

hubbydawg was just telling me about some kind of leash that actually keeps doggies at "arm's length" or whatever for bike riding. let me check...

*intermission*

here's the one he saw: walkydog (http://walkydogusa.com/dog-biking-product.htm)

but here are a couple of other things, similar ideas: bikerdog (http://www.bikerdog.com/stills.html) and springer (http://www.springerusa.com/)

:o holy! thanks for digging those up!
the part that scares me about riding with the muppet is if she sees a cat or another dog and lunges for it (that's why i was thinking of those kiddie trailers). but reading the FAQs, maybe it wouldn't be bad...BikerDog's patented design absorbs up to 90% of the forces caused by your dog pulling on the bike. This means that it is very unlikely that your dog will cause you to loose(sic) your balance.

My cat would not appreciate being put into a kitty stroller. I have a hard enough time keeping my kid in one. Alothough maybe a kitty stroller would help the kid situation. LOL

Maybe you could find a kid-style one cheap or free (like on Craig's list or Freecycle) and then alter it to fit your needs?

you can also buy cat leashes so they get exercise at the same time!

i'm looking for some type of trailer for my dog right now - and hoping to keep it under $100. i'm not really finding anything good on e-bay, and everything i see on real online stores tend to be at least $200. i'm afraid if i make one myself it would fall apart and drop nemo on the pavement.. not really the result i'm looking for. i know the things which let your dog run beside you are cheaper, but i'm planning on using it around the city of boulder and i'm not really comfortable with him jogging beside me on a bike on a busy street.

so, umm, gur - found anything good? is there anyone who hasn't responded to this thread who knows anything?

newp. that $500 dealie (link elsewhere in thread) is the only one i found to buy. i found lots and lots of sites with directions for diy though. i haven't attempted it yet 'cause i'm askeered of it falling apart too. :p i'll try and find those links and post 'em here, a little later.

if you find something, lemme know eh! :)

I rescued a handicapped cat recently and the first thing I did was order a cat stroller. I just got it yesterday and so far the cat loves it. He's using it as a bed right now and sleeping next to me. The stroller looks like this one (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=12322&N=2002+113494)except mine has a drink holder at the top and I got mine on ebay for $49. It is really easy to break it down so it folds up quickly. It has a basket underneath to carry stuff which is nice. We are taking him for a stroll tonight and I think he will love being able to get out of the house. It's bad enough for him to be handicapped, but worse for him not to be walked outside on a harness like I do my other cat. This is a great solution! :)
