Hello.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: I was conflicted - resolved conflict by stopping eating other animals - became ill - ate better and changed lifestyle - now healthy, passionate vegan who won't shut-up.
P.B.W.Y.

LONG WINDED VERSION:
Letmeseenow.....I was one of those kids who was totally conflicted about eating things with eyes (other than potatoes).
I managed to supress my concerns for many years through the brilliant use of clever rationalizations. I fought back against my inner knowing, and although I was ever compassionate with living creatures, somehow I was quite able to eat dead ones.
Of course I was inevitably going to fail to maintain this hypocracy and slowly the walls of intellect-contrived protection wore down and I had to resolve my inherent love for living beings with my desire to eat them.
With the illumination of individuals such as John Robbins and some patient friends, I moved towards the veggie way. I transitioned away from mammal flesh through to virtual vegan over a period of years.
I came to a place where I was the classic junk food vegetarian when I came down with a life destroying illness. It took me many years before I came to realize that my health was a product of my choices in life and that my diet was a foundational choice.
I then became very interested in making food choices that were going to support my health as well as infringing as little as possible on the lives of other animals.
Today, and for the past eight years, I have enjoyed remarkable health and vitality. I have always loved life, and now I live it with such joy, energy, and passion that I just have to share what I have learned with anyone who is interested.

Peace be with you.

I was a junk food vegetarian too. I gained alot of pounds during this time by having lots of 'snacks'. Since last November, though, I lost around 20 pounds just by eating better (and reducing those snacks!).

Hey Spaceman.
Ain't it great! We can eat great food that makes us feel terrific and, well, lets us feel good about ourselves.
Many of my clients come to me to lose wait or otherwise improve their health and the next thing they know they are moving towards a vegetarian lifestyle.
Bonus for them, and a bonus for the critters.
Thanks for your response and congratulations on improving your health.

Peace and joy be with you.

Ya know...even though i started seeing the health benefits of being vegan it just now started to become aware that what i eat truly affects my life in many more ways than i thought. I started playing with raw foods and it changed my whole outlook. I felt like i was high while raw, it felt very good. Now i try to eat more whole foods than anything. So simple yet it was so alien to me.
I won't go on a raw rant but more people were interested in my raw rant than my vegan one...whatever works right? :)
It's a win win win situation!

Hey Dandelion.
You're on to me.
Yup, I am one of those raw-food, animal-loving, vegan, health fanatics.
I thought I was keeping that kind of quiet.;)
Whatever works in each persons personal context is great. We are here to do so much more than just be healthy, but I find that being healthy sure makes the rest of it alot easier, and in my case a lot more fun and joyous.
Who needs drugs when their food (and spirit) can get them high:banana:.
Really appreciate all the work you have done, and continue to do to give us such a great forum.

May peace and joy be with you, and may you be caught out in-the-raw.:D
