I can never think of an interesting title, sorry about that, lol.
Well, I found my way here from Veggieboards. I'm still a fairly recent vegan- I made the conscious change in October of last year, but I had a few relapses (halloween, a little bit of cheese here and there, etc). I'm lactose intolerant and find that I break out in a rash when I consume a lot of dairy products, however, so I finally made the final change in January and haven't looked back since. I know that's not a very long time, but it's not hard at all now and I don't imagine it growing particularly difficult any time soon.
I have to admit, though- I'm not exceptionally strict. I won't eat cheese, icecream, eggs, drink milk or eat products that I know contain them, but if I go to Taco Hell and get a bean burrito and they put cheese in it, I'm not going to throw a huge tantrum because it's just not worth it to me. They'd probably waste the food (I always have special orders, so they couldn't really re-serve it) or simply not do anything about it. In a nice restaurant- yeah, I'll do something about it, but not in places like that. Also, if I'm in a restaurant and I order a veggie burger, as long as the product itself doesn't have animal ingredients in it, then I'd rather not stress about the area it's cooked on too much and focus rather on enjoying my company and meal. Of course, this is all subject to change after I've been vegan for awhle. :)
Not much else to say, really. I went vegetarian in April of last year and it was really easy for me. I had only one or two mistakes with beef or chicken broth, but I learned from it. I'm happier and healthier since then!
