Missed my run this morning because he-manigans said he was going to the gym. Dexter can't go running with me because of his paw pad injuries and I can't leave him home alone at 5:30 in the morning without pissing off neighbors and stressing my poor dog out. he-manigans didn't get up and go (said he slept really poorly), I'm a little miffed he didn't wake me so I could go for my run if he was going to stay in bed but I guess my brain doesn't work too good at that hour either. Now I feel like I should "make up" the run somehow and there just isn't any time to do that this week. Am I crazy, or is keeping on a work out schedule this stressful for everyone?

I walked Monday and yesterday. I wasn't happy on Monday because I was reeeaaalllly slow! Yesterday wasn't much better. I had a pain in my leg, but I didn't think much of it. I figured I would just walk it off. If it didn't go away, then I would deal with it.
The pain diminished somewhat by the end of the walk, but it was still there. It was like a constant pain in the muscle, and it felt like a lump of deadweight inside my leg. It was weird. When I got home, I started to massage my leg, and that felt a teeny bit better. Then I decided to stretch (which I have not been doing at all in too long), and that made a huge difference. I guess this reinforces the importance of stretching the muscles as much as working them out. :umm:

sv - Glad the stretching seemed to help. Flexibility is one of the corners of the fitness triangle.

All very important
I solved my scheduling problem, I realized the gym opens at 5:15 and my power pump class doesn't start until 6:00, so 3 mile run and 1 hr power pump class this morning. All before 7am :sleepy:

I get to post here for the first time ever!!!!!! I've been trying to find the motivation to exercise for quite some time now, and I've finally started.
8/13 40min toning video with hand weights.
8/14 30min run. (it wasn't a very long run, but it's the first time I've run in over a year.)
AND double plus bonus, it seems to me that being a vegan has indeed helped my exercise induced asthma. I don't have a puffer anymore, and I didn't even wheeze at all durning my run today!

Going to be busy packing for our camping trip, so just the usual evening walk with the dogs (which I do every day, but don't post here usually).
Tomorrow: 11 miles of canoeing down the Kickapoo river. So excited!

Aug 16: 1 hr/4.75 mi walk/run with Cade delays. (He came with his bike. Had to stop and open the car for him to get a drink, stop and open the car to put the bike away, stop and...you get the idea)

um, no?
We had lots of fun, and only capsized once! :p Was too bruised and tired to do anything other than get the gear cleaned up and put away yesterday. Planning on a jog with the dog this afternoon, maybe 3.5 miles.

tuesday:
60 minutes yoga (power vinyasa)
YAY! i really really really really want to get back in a yoga routine. really.
when i unrolled my mat & yoga rug, maia (seeing it for the first time) immediately pounced to lie down in "sleigh position," as we call it. she was like, "awesome, thanks, i always thought you should have a rug right here!"
and then finley realized what i was up to (because usually HE is the culprit to lie down on it immediately), and he root root rooted around to bury under one end of the rug.
sigh.
but eventually i prevailed and they let me do my yoga. :silly:

Yesterday: 2 mile bicycle commute, then 8 mile round-trip uphill, and back. The uphill leg was against the wind and rain, during rush hour... I think it was that bit that caused my asthma to flare up; it was the worst it's been since I stopped eating dairy. Still, I'm doing a lot better than I used to before going vegan.

thursday:
a very little bit of yoga (a little is better than nothing, right?)
--5 sun salutations
--10 or 15 minutes of other poses and some random stretching
--some situps
i was having a tough time because maia was pining over h-dawg's absence and she kept walking around my yoga mat in an oval. eventually i decided i was "centered enough" and gave up. :blank:
