I'm a vegan. I haven't always been a vegan. I suppose not many people have. I wish the lights had gone on in my head though many years ago, so I wouldn't have partaken for so long in all this nasty exploitation of non-human animals.

So one day when the lights finally DID light up all over my head (they lit up one by one - it's wasn't one sort of big flood of "let there be light and there was light", but more like "one light bulb here, one light bulb there, another one over there, kind of thing) I decided that veganism, anti-speciesm and animal liberation was the way for me.

No more animal products for me. I don't even want to wear out my old leather shoes, I don't want to walk in dead animal skin. Ethical vegan shoes are helluva expensive, but it's worth it. No cheap "made in China" shoes for me either, even if they are vegan-

What has China got to do with veganism? Everything... because all human beings are animals too. As an anti-speciest I put human animals and non human animals on the same level so exploitation of either is something I abbhor. And everyone knows how Chinese workers who make shoes (for example) are treated. I'd rather walk barefoot than wear shoes made in these conditions.

ONE SOLUTION......... VEGAN REVOLUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't be silly, jeezycreezy! :p How could lights go OFF when there were none lit in the first place.

You know, they say that "in the beginning, there was nothing. Then God created light and there was still nothing but at least people could see it".

In my head before I went vegan was darkness. I was one of THOSE evil creatures who ate meat, drank milk and wore leather shoes. Then there was light, and at least I could SEE my evil ways.

Hey, but I'm not going to flagellate myself for my past mistakes. There are too many meat-eaters out there today to flagellate instead. :D :D :D

Thank you everyone for your welcome. :)

Every time you flagellate, god kills a kitten.

I know you said flagellate, but did you mean flatulate?

If so, I'm not farting anymore. I don't think it's right for God to kill kittens.

ETA: Oh yeah, and welcome Humananimal.

I never flatulate in public. It's not ladylike.

Jessica: Are you sure about the kitten thing? I've never heard that before. Maybe it's just an urban legend? (You've got me worried here - I flagellated three omnis today.)

My bad. The lights are on but nobody's home. Got it. :silly:

Welcome to VRF and all that, but I'm not sure what harshing on meat eaters is meant to accomplish? I get that it's all tongue-in-cheek, like, but I kinda think that kind of attitude...how shall I say? Makes veganism unappealing to those who might be interested in it. And even other vegans. Or whatever.

In actuality, there are plenty of people with the same attitude you have here. You'll be fine. :)
